Mifuyu Ando is a Japanese author and creative entrepreneur known as one of Japan’s pioneering digital nomads. She gained national attention for publishing multiple bestselling books while traveling across 48 countries with nothing but a laptop and a smartphone.
Her works — including Knowing and Tsunagaranai Renshu (Practice to Be Free from Social Media) — have been translated and published in South Korea and Taiwan, and she has been featured in a dialogue with a leading Korean YouTuber with nearly one million subscribers.
Mifuyu’s unique lifestyle and philosophy have been spotlighted in major media such as Jounetsu Tairiku (Continent of Passion) and NHK Special, and she has appeared in global brand campaigns for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, SK-II, and Intel, among others.
Born and raised in Tokyo, she graduated from Keio University, during which she studied abroad at the University of Amsterdam. Inspired by Europe’s diversity in work and lifestyle, she joined Shueisha Inc., Japan’s largest publishing house, before founding her own business after seven years to explore new ways of working and living.
In 2025, following a sudden creative awakening, she decided to dedicate her life to her childhood passion — mystery.
On September 9, 2025, she founded UNROUTE Inc., a company that creates immersive entertainment where participants become detectives solving cases. Through UNROUTE, Mifuyu aims to expand the mystery genre into a new experiential dimension, both in Japan and globally, crafting a brand that captivates and connects people through storytelling.
